Upcoming Events

The first two weeks of October are busy weeks for Morehead. More infromation about specific events will be shared.

• Tuesday, October 7th - All Day - Durham County Municipal Voting - Morehead Gymnasium

• Tuesday, October 7th @5:30-7:30 pm - National Night Out - Morehead Playground - Community event partnering with Morehead Hill HOA, Forest Hills, HOA, Durham Police Department, Durham Fire Department, AT&T, Food Trucks and others.

• Wendesday, October 8th @ 7:00 am - Walk, Bike & Roll To School - Orchard Park - Annual MMES event for staff and families to travel as a group from Orchard Park to Morehead.

• Sunday, October 12th @ 8:00 am - Bright Futures 5k & 1 Mile Fun Run - Southwest regional event benefiting all SW Region DPS schools. Race, food, fun and festivities.

• Tuesday, Octoer 14th - All Day - 1st and 2nd Grade Field Trip - Museum of Life and Science

• Thursday, October 16th - All Day - 3rd Grade Field Trip - Greensboro Science Center

Meerstart

• Show your love for the entire Morehead Montessori community! Please consider making a donation of $165 (or more!) for each Meerkat in your family - but no amount is too small to help. The Morehead Montessori PTA hopes to raise $50,000 to fund seven initiatives (Snacks, Supplies, Teacher Support, Field Trips, Tutoring Staff Appreciateion and Emergency funds) that benefit the whole school community during the 2025-2026 school year.

  Below you can see the breakdown if families were to provide items individuall vs whole school.

• Funded Individually:

  • Total Cost >$250

  • Field Trips ~$40

  • Snacks ~$90 (50 cents per day) 

  • Supplies ~$100 based on teacher supply request @ BOY

  • Teacher support/Staff Appreciation ~$47

• Funded Via Meerstart (Savings vs Individual Funded)

  • Total cost $165 ($85)

  • Field Trips $26 ($14)

  • Snacks $40 ($50)

  • Supplies $33 ($67)

  • Teacher Support/Staff Appreciation $47 ($0)

• Kid's Night Out!!! - Morehead will host 6 kids night out events for contributors to our Meerstart Campaign. There will be Fall Kid's Night out by cohort and Spring Kid's Night out by cohort. Save the fall dates below!! If you have students in multiple cohorts, you can choose which event to send your students to.

  • October 17th - Primary Kid's Night Out 6:00-8:00 - Movie and Popcorn

  • October 24th - Lower Elementary Kid's Night Out 6:00-8:00 Movie and Popcorn

  • November 7th - Upper Elementary Kid's Night Out 6:00-8:00 Movie and Popcorn
