VOLUNTEER at the Book Fair

We will have our Spring 2026 Scholastic Book Fair on March 16-27 right in our own Media Center at Morehead. All students will shop with their class at assigned times during school hours. If families wish to visit the fair, they can swing by the library from 2:30-3:30 on March 23-25 for Staff and Family Quick Shop.

Make sure to set up an eWallet! EWALLET is the easiest and safest way for your child to manage their money AND to receive donations from friends and family to fund their Book Fair experience! Simply go to https://www.scholastic.com/bf/moreheadmontessorischool and click on the button to “Get Started” with your Book Fair eWallet. Now, you can share the link with all your friends and family for them to grow your child’s Book Fair Fund. Please consider making an eWallet in your child’s name and sharing the link with your friends, family, and community so they can all donate! (At the end of the Book Fair, all unused, non-refundable eWallet funds will be donated to the Morehead Library.)

If you would like to VOLUNTEER to work at the book fair, please sign up HERE or you can visit www.signupgenius.com and search for signups created by crystal_teasley@dpsnc.net The sign-up is titled Morehead Book Fair Volunteers (Spring 2026).

You must be a DPS-approved volunteer to participate during school hours.

We can’t wait til the Spring 2026 Scholastic Book Fair on March 16-27!!

If you have questions or would like support from the Book Fairy, please contact Rainbow at crystal_teasley@dpsnc.net OR 919-213-9938 (call or TEXT any time!)

Morehead's Got Talent - March 25th @ 5:30 pm

The show will be Wednesday, March 25 at 5:30pm and includes 1st-5th grade.

The tryout dates will be Wednesday, March 11 (today!), Tuesday, March 17, and one additional date (TBD) for 5th graders.

Tryouts will start after dismissal and end at 3:45pm. Students attending the tryouts will be dismissed at 3:45pm from the front of the school or to afterschool as appropriate.

Tryouts are simply to review talents. As long as the students have a safe & school appropriate talent, they will be in the show.

Once we have a list of participants, I will send out the order of the show in the form of a program. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns by emailing delois_meadows@dpsnc.net.

St. Patrick's Day Bake Sale Benfiting:

Giving Our ALL: Mitch's Mission for Blood Cancer United

Hello Morehead community!

I'm writing on behalf of my husband, Mitch, and our team Giving Our ALL: Mitch's Mission for Blood Cancer United. I am campaigning for Blood Cancer United (formerly the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) to raise money for cancer research and therapies. Every dollar we raise brings someone closer to the remission Mitch fought for twice.

Mitch's most recent story with leukemia is a family story. He was diagnosed with a relapse of ALL on August 25, 2021 (our third wedding anniversary). Our daughter Mara was not quite 2 years old. Devastated doesn't begin to cover the emotions surrounding this diagnosis. Mitch did not achieve remission with chemotherapy, unlike when he was 18. Thanks to the investigational use of CAR-T therapy, and a bone marrow transplant from an altruistic stranger in February 2022, he achieved remission. He is still in remission 4 1/2 years later, and our family has grown to include Mara's younger brother, Graham. We are happy and healthy, and we want more survivors to have the same outcome.

How you can help:

1) Come by our bake sale on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, outside Morehead Montessori from 2-5pm

2) Donate to our fundraiser

3) Look out for more community events to raise money for our cause!

We are so thankful to the Morehead Montessori community for your support and inclusion. Please say hi when you see us!

Thank you!

Jen Vonderau with Mitch, Mara, and Graham Vonderau
