Good Evening Families,
It’s a wrap–we finished up Quarter 1 on Friday and are ready to hit the ground running into Quarter 2 on TUESDAY–we have our teacher workday tomorrow, so kids are out (Monday, October 27).
Curious about how we prepare for emergencies. Our tagline for emergency preparedness is “We believe George Watts Montessori is a safe place to learn and work. The adults have a plan for all types of emergencies, and today we practiced one of those plans.” Throughout the year, we practice the following plans:
Evacuation (fire drill): monthly
Shelter-in-place (severe weather/tornado): twice per year, in September and March
Lockdown: twice per year, September/October and January/February/Early March
Earthquake: once per year in October (we completed this drill this past Wednesday).
You can learn more about DPS emergency protocols: English / Spanish. We will always alert families of any emergency protocols activated (a real or perceived incident) as soon as it is safe to do so, but we reserve our communication lines for emergencies as opposed to routine drills. If you ever have questions about our drills, please reach out (Principal Jenn).
